Questioning and Changing Your Thoughts

What if some of the thoughts we have don’t serve us well? What if they need to be challenged or changed? These thoughts may be about ourselves or others. Our reality is only what we have experienced and what our brains believe to be true. There are many thoughts that our brains hold on to that are important, but what do we do when we learn of thoughts that are not helpful or maybe not even true?

It is important to allow ourselves the opportunity to feel upset, frustrated, sad, or whatever feelings may occur in learning that what we have thought in the past needs to change. Feeling sadness is a very valid experience.  Feelings can motivate and push us to change and grow.

Educating ourselves and working on recognizing what thoughts we want to change is an important step in the process. We need to be patient with ourselves and allow ourselves to explore all parts of our brains.

At The Marathon Mind we talk a lot about brain training and working on our brains. We see this as a lifelong process. We will always be learning, growing, adapting, and changing. This is good! Take some time to explore some of the thoughts you are having and if there is room to improve and adjust your thoughts.

Feelings can motivate and push us to change and grow.
