I Was Made For This

During a hard workout, as I start to push and before the fatigue sets in, there is often a moment of clarity. I feel the burn in my lungs and legs, and the euphoria in my heart. The thought that comes is this, “I was made for this.” My mind and body were made for the challenge of training, growing, moving, and most of all progressing. A challenging workout is often where I find the mental, physical and emotional strength that was already there, waiting to be discovered. The thought that I was made for progress and challenge pushes me to work harder.

Then it creeps in; the fatigue and the discomfort. My thoughts start to shift– doubt and apathy creep in. The new thought is, “why am I doing this?” That thought seems to settle into my body. My legs feel heavy and unwilling to move. It’s at that moment that I have to make a choice: which thought do I feed?

My progress is determined by that choice. So I do my best to dig deep and choose the thought that I was made for this. I was made for the challenge. I crave progress. I can endure the discomfort of changing my mind, spirit and body.

What will you choose? What were you made for?

“My mind and body were made for the challenge of training, growing, moving, and most of all progressing.”
